With its smooth and aesthetic finish, installing béton ciré on stairs is simple, but it may raise some questions:

  • What surfaces can be covered with béton ciré on stairs?
  • Can béton ciré be used on outdoor stairs?
  • What types of stairs are suitable for béton ciré application?
  • Can you create a rounded staircase?
  • How do you maintain a béton ciré staircase?

Béton ciré is compatible with all types of stairs and surfaces. Our range of béton ciré staircase kits has been specially formulated to cover your stairs, whether tiled or not.

What Are the Benefits of Béton Ciré on Stairs?

As a high-traffic area, your stairs are a central element of your living space and should be well-maintained and highlighted. Béton ciré stairs offer numerous advantages:

  • Long-lasting durability;
  • Resistance to impacts, abrasions, and scratches;
  • Easy maintenance and cleaning.

Choosing béton ciré for your stairs simplifies daily upkeep. A quick sweep and cleaning with black soap and water are all it takes.

How to Create a Béton Ciré Staircase with Our Kit

Preparing the Stairs for béton ciré Installation:

Before starting, we recommend thoroughly cleaning the steps to ensure better adhesion. If your surface has major imperfections, particularly on irregular surfaces, it is advisable to level the floor.

Installing the béton ciré Staircase Kit:

First, use a mixer to combine the powder (a ready-to-use blend of white cement and aggregates) with the resin until you achieve a smooth mixture.

Apply the first coat of béton ciré using a rounded stainless-steel trowel, without attempting to create any effects. Apply the concrete to the risers with a putty knife for easier application. Finish the edges and nosing using an angle trowel, applying more material on the edges to create rounded finishes during sanding. Start at the top of your staircase and work your way down, always finishing with the riser. This first coat should be thick and will serve as a base for the second coat.

At least two hours after applying the first coat, dust your stairs and lightly sand the surface, especially the edges, to facilitate the second coat's application. Apply the second coat, during which the color variations will start to appear. Sand the surface and apply the finishing varnish.

Now you can enjoy your béton ciré staircase!
