Sprayed Concrete: Why Use It for Your Patio?

Sprayed Concrete is an ideal decorative coating for both floors and walls. Easy to apply using a spray gun or manually with a trowel, it's an ultra-durable material that gives your outdoor spaces a contemporary touch. With its polished concrete finish, this spray-on technique can be used on both old surfaces in need of renovation and new ones. It's especially effective for pool surrounds, patios, and terraces.

What is Ready-to-Use Sprayed Concrete?

Harmony Spray Mortar is a bi-component mortar made from resin, cement, additives, and special aggregates designed for creating decorative concrete surfaces, like stamped concrete. It comes as a fine powder to be mixed with resin and applied with a Sharpshooter spray gun.

Easy to clean and maintain, spray mortar is primarily applied with a spray gun and offers several advantages:

  • It sprays in thin layers.
  • It has a fine-grained texture, similar to polished concrete.
  • It is quick to apply with mechanical assistance.
  • It adheres well to various surfaces.

When troweled with a smoothing tool, Sprayed Concrete will have a polished concrete appearance, showcasing a wide range of color shades. After both layers of Sprayed concrete have dried completely, apply Harmony Enviro Varnish to protect the surface and give it a glossy finish.

How to Apply Sprayed Concrete

To add a unique look to your surfaces, Harmony Béton offers a wide selection of colors for Sprayed Concrete.

Sprayed concrete with Stencils for Stamped Concrete:

  1. Apply a base color to the surface that will define the joint color (you can choose from our color chart).
  2. Place the stencils, then apply a second layer using the spray.
  3. Remove the stencils to reveal the pattern, then seal with a protective varnish.

Sprayed concrete without Stencils for a Polished Concrete Effect:

  1. Prepare the surface using Universal Prim Granite (included in the kit).
  2. Mix the Sprayed concrete powder with the resin using a mixer.
  3. Sift the mixture, then pour it into your spray gun’s tank.
  4. Apply two thin, successive layers with the spray gun.
  5. Trowel the surface and let it dry.
  6. Finish by applying a protective varnish for long-lasting durability.
